New edition and continuation of a very successful project from Feb 2009 (see “Media” for video); completely new performances on 20/21 March 2010 in Ostfildern
24 Jan 2010 : 11 a.m. – Old Town Hall, Esslingen
Exile : the opening concert of the tonArt festival in Esslingen, where Scott Roller performs Ernst Krenek’s Suite for Cello solo (1939) and participates in an Isang Yun trio with flute and violin
29 Jan 2010 : 7 p.m. / 31 Jan 2010 : 5 p.m. – various locations around the Esslingen Market
4 different settings of each 6 songs from Franz Schubert’s Winter Journey in which Scott Roller participated in the settings by Michael Kiedaisch (for voice, multi-reeds, cello, bass and perc) and Albrecht Imbescheid (for voice and string quartet, with a formation like the Helios Quartet).
02 Feb 2010 : 8 p.m. - St Paul Cathedral, Esslingen
Klangraum (Soundspace) : Pupils from the 8c and 6c music classes from the Realschule am Schillerpark in Esslingen present their acoustic experiments in the sonic space of the St. Paul Cathedral in Esslingen. Their three Open_Music teachers, who have worked with the pupils since Oct 2009 will also be playing: Ulrike Stortz, violin / Scott Roller, cello / Michael Kiedaisch, percussion
Feb-July 2010 – work starts in 6 different schools in Stuttgart in preparation for the show Jetzt! (Now!) in early July 2010 (General director: Scott Roller)
18 March 2010 : 7:30 p.m. – Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium, Böblingen
In the course of 6 weeks, a 12th-grade class works musically with Scott Roller/Ulrike Stortz, another 12th-grade class works visually and performance-oriented with the artist Thomas Putze and the results will be presented in a wandering performance for the opening of a new music and art wing of the school. Ulrike and Scott are also working with 5th-grade students in a special education school in Sindelfingen (near Böblingen, both not far from Stuttgart) who will also participate in the performance. Scott, Ulrike and Thomas will also take part in the evening of performances.

Begegnungen (Encounters) – Break dance as a jumping-off-point for something very different – a multimedia spectacle with Dancers (the Flashrockers) from the youth center L-Quadrat in Ostfildern accompanied and with interludes by a 13-piece Open_Music studio orchestra made up of pupils (aged 11-20) from the youth music school in Ostfildern. First installment of the Scott Fields DOUBLE QUARTET project (String Quartet)
16-21 May 2010 - NIMM: Network for Improvised Music Moers
Leading up to the famous Moers jazz festival, Scott Roller will be working with 5th-graders in Moers, both in a classroom situation and in a sound orchestra, which will present the fruits of their week’s labor in the opening concert of the festival in Moers on Friday the 21st of May.
25-27 May 2010 – Lübeck
Scott Roller presents 3 2-hour Open_Music workshops per day with participants in the national level of the jugend musiziert competition in Lübeck, sponsored by jeunesses musicales

JETZT! (Now!) 2010 : Improvisation as a Way of Life
The third edition of the Open_Music multimedia mega-event, this time with about 130 Stuttgart pupils in cooperation with the Hauptschule Gablenberg, the Realschule Ostheim, the Königin-Olga-Gymnasium, the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Sillenbuch, and the Stuttgarter Jugendhaus (Stuttgart Youth Center) GmbH. Ten artists from various artistic disciplines work from Feb-July 2010 with the pupils, with generous support from the Jugendamt Stuttgart and Netzwerk Süd/Netzwerk Neue Musik, Kulturstiftung des Bundes (Southern Network/New Music Network, National Cultural Foundation).
