Die 3. Auflage vom Open_Music Multimedia Mega-Event, diesmal mit etwa 130 Stuttgarter Schülern in Kooperation mit der Hauptschule Gablenberg, der Realschule Ostheim, dem Königin-Olga-Gymnasium, dem Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium Sillenbuch, und dem Stuttgarter Jugendhaus GmbH.  Zehn Künstler aus verschiedenen Bereichen arbeiten ab Februar 2010 mit den Schülern, unterstützt durch das Jugendamt Stuttgart und Netzwerk Süd/Netzwerk Neue Musik (Kulturstiftung des Bundes).

This blog and pages are to document some of my various musical and educational activities right now and during the last 25-30 years making music one way or another, with the delcared purpose of sparking new connections.

For about half of my 50-year sojourn on the planet I have lived in and worked out of Essen and Stuttgart, Germany. Work has taken me to most of the other important German cities (especially Cologne, Berlin and Frankfurt) and indeed to most other Central and Eastern European countries, mostly playing in, writing for  and or improvising or interpreting, various “contemporary music” ensembles from solo and chamber music to larger formations,  stylistically  rather “promiscious” in welcoming the interpenetration of styles and non-styles from  the “classical avantgarde,”  experimental music, jazz, world music, myriad popular forms, employing at times electro-acoustics,  technologies from basic-consumer to high-end , often in collaboration with artists of other media.

The last 10-15 years for me have brought exciting developments in improvisation / improvisation-education, which have expanded to include all forms of composition and artistic expression. In 2005, I and my partner Ulrike Stortz founded a non-profit organisation  in Stuttgart called Open_Music, e.V. which is heavily involved in the “Netzwerk Süd (Southern Network)” which is part of the national program for new music education funded by the National Cultural Foundation. This has kept us very busy since 2008 and will run through 2011 and we are energetically looking towards a future rich in human encounters, fruitful collaborations,  partnerships and viable forms of symbiotic interactions in art and life.

Over the years a great number of scores, recordings, texts and all kinds of imagery have accumulated and this blog is my dynamic sorting-out and making-available to myself and others, my little vanity press. All scores, graphics, texts and audio-visual materials offered on the site are released with the agreement that all copyrights remain property of their respective holders and that further commercial use is only allowed with my (or their) knowledge and approval. I will clarify this issue soon with more exact information. I am a member of  the German GEMA and GVL, who often take an interest in public performances of my work – please report performances and broadcasts, links…

This is clearly a work-in-progress and offensively so – a multimedia weblog. Blog entries are free to jump in at any point, continuing a thread or initiating something new. The contents of many posts will be worked into the more static pages to the right of “Blog”) I will combine some older things with some newer things and try to keep it going as well as I can. I allow myself to “show my work” more or less online, having often to be content with showing where a section might be going, weaving the execution as i go along.  Comments are welcome.

Jetzt! 2008 : Improvisation als LebensMittel

Jeder von uns benützt die Grundfähigkeit zur Improvisation im alltäglichen Leben, z.B. wenn wir miteinander erfolgreich ein Gespräch führen, im Straßenverkehr, in jeder Beziehung oder in der Arbeit.

Jetzt! bedeutet geschärfte Wahrnehmung im Moment mit all seinen Überraschungen und ein spontaner Umgang damit, den die Jugendlichen dann in Klängen, Farben, Worten oder Bewegung ausdrücken.

Mit allen Sinnen im Hier und Jetzt! sein, in dem wir miteinander agieren und reagieren in der Zeit, aufeinander hören und auch künstlerisch miteinander spielen, das ist ein Grundsatz dieses Projektes.

Jetzt! – Improvisierte Begegnung von Tanz und Musik, von Sprache und Bewegung, von Live-Painting und Live-Elektronik

Jetzt! – Differenz und Vielfalt heute

Jetzt! – Drei einzigartige Aufführungen, gemeinsam gestaltet von über 100 Stuttgarter Jugendlichen und einem Team von 12 Künstlern

Teilnehmer:

Über 100 Jugendliche ab 13 Jahren aus der Haupt- und Realschule Ostheim, dem Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium und freien Gruppen für Schauspiel, Performance und Medien.
